Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s)

PPE creates barrier between hazard and route of entry to the human body.

• Describe the hierarchy of controls as it relates to personal protective equipment (PPE’s).

• Identify types of personal protective equipment utilized in industry and hospital settings.

• Explain personal protective equipment training requirements.

• Types, levels, and sizes of PPE’s.
• Donning & Doffing PPE’s (the right order).
• Fit Testing PPE’s procedures.
• Explain the employer responsibilities regarding personal protective equipment.

• Explain the employee responsibilities regarding personal protective equipment.

• Use all feasible engineering and work practice controls to eliminate and reduce hazards.

• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) if these controls do not eliminate the hazards.

Remember, PPE is the last level of control!

The Emergency Officer’s course is based on information from Federal & Provincial emergency management agencies and the Fire Code. Participants will learn emergency management, communication, fire prevention, evacuation as well as the proper use of first aid kits, stretchers, 2-way radio systems and fire extinguishers. This course is recommended for Floor Emergency officers, Fire Wardens, First Responders and Security Officers.
